Vehicle Decals 101

Durable, weather-resistant vinyl graphics used for decoration or advertising on cars, trucks, and other vehicles. They are a cost-effective way to customize a vehicle and are designed to be safe for a vehicle's paint and windows.

TYPES OF VINYL

Lable Vinyl

1 – 3 Year Unprinted

A durable, self-adhesive PVC material used for creating custom labels, stickers, and decals for a variety of applications, including product branding, industrial identification, and vehicle lettering. It is known for its resistance to water, UV light, chemicals, and temperature changes.

Monomeric Vinyl

3 – 5 Year Unprinted

A strong class=cost-effective, self-adhesive PVC film designed for short- to medium-term applications on flat, rigid surfaces. It is a popular, budget-friendly option for general signage and promotional graphics, offering good print quality.

Polymeric Vinyl

5 – 7 Year Unprinted

A durable, dimensionally stable self-adhesive film that provides an excellent balance of performance and cost for medium- to long-term applications. It offers a superior alternative to basic monomeric vinyl, particularly for outdoor use and gently curved surfaces.

Cast Vinyl

7 – 10 Year Unprinted

A premium, high-performance self-adhesive film  manufactured as a very thin, soft, and flexible material that is ideal for complex, curved surfaces and long-term applications. It is known as the industry standard for vehicle wrapping and high-durability outdoor graphics due to its exceptional dimensional stability and longevity.

TYPES OF VEHICLE SIGNAGE

Vehicle Decals

Vehicle decals are self-adhesive graphics, lettering, or images made from high-quality, durable vinyl that can be applied to any vehicle’s painted surface or windows. They are a versatile, cost-effective way to customize a vehicle, display personal style, or function as mobile advertising for businesses. They can also provide removable options such as vehicle magnets.

Quater Wrap

These focus on specific panels, often covering roughly 25% of the vehicle. Common areas include just the rear quarter panels or the hood and doors.

Provided targeted branding, protecting specific panels only with the lowest relative costing compared to half and full wraps.

Half Wrap

These provide approximately 50% coverage, typically starting from the rear and moving forward along the sides. They are a popular middle ground, offering high impact at roughly half the cost of a full wrap.

Provided high-impact branding on panels. Uses the front half’s color as part of the design while protecting the rear half from UV and debris. Moderate costing compared to quarter and full wraps.

Full Wrap

These provide  100% coverage, typically starting from the rear and moving forward along the sides. 

Provides protection from UV and debris by protecting paint while providing branded marketing on the move.  Easy to maintain and provides longevity colour printing. Additional protection can be added by using a cast lamination. Highest costing compared to quarter and half wraps.

Contravision

Contravision is a specialized, perforated self-adhesive window film that creates a one-way vision effect, allowing people on the inside to see out clearly while those outside only see a solid image or design. It is widely used for advertising, branding, and privacy on glass surfaces of buildings and vehicles.

Provides a one-way view, night-time reversal, and privacy. 

PPF

Paint Protection Film, a transparent, durable, thermoplastic urethane film applied to vehicle surfaces to protect the underlying paint from physical and chemical damage. It is a premium protective solution, often referred to as a “clear bra”, that helps maintain the vehicle’s appearance and resale value.

PPF provides Superior Physical Protection, Self-Healing Properties, Chemical and UV Resistance, Maintains Aesthetics, Durability and Longevity and Easy Maintenance.

Fleet Spec

The standardized safety requirements for applying retroreflective materials to commercial and industrial vehicles. These specifications are designed to ensure maximum visibility in low-light conditions, such as at night or in heavy rain and fog. 

Most Common:

Class 1 Diamond Grade, Identification Numbers / Fleet Numbers, Reflective Striping & Chevrons,

Colour Change

Changing a vehicle’s color with vinyl is a popular, cost-effective, and temporary alternative to a permanent paint job, offering a wide array of color and finish options while also protecting the original paintwork. 

It is cost effective, offers paint protection, versatile in colours and reversable at any point. 

Note: Colour do not have to be changed on vehicle registration papers.
